Cotswold involved in project at world’s second busiest airport

The second busiest airport in the world- and one of the largest and most strategically important globally- is the location of the latest project for a UK based hardware specialist.

As part of the construction of a new terminal building at Beijing Capital International Airport, the developers sourced UK manufactured hardware to be incorporated within its windows.

The developers for the project, Beijing Capital International Airport Company Ltd, turned to Cheltenham based Cotswold Architectural Products for a large quantity of its HD26/180 friction stays that were used in the 1100mm x 2400mm windows.

Iain Morgan, Managing Director of Cotswold, believes the project to be one of the most high-profile the company has been involved in.

Iain comments: “Our products are specified for countless developments and prestigious project across the world in countries such as the USA, Chile, South Korea, Malaysia and India. But this latest one is a major coup and ranks as one of the most impressive.

“This is a vital global hub and is one of the world’s busiest airports and the busiest in Asia. To be selected for the project, speaks volumes about our products and service.”

When asked why they had chosen Cotswold to carry out the project, the developers said: “Cotswold products are renowned for their excellent performance and the company is known for producing market leading heavy duty hardware.

“We needed the very best heavy duty products to support the big commercial sash windows at the new terminal.”

Beijing Capital International Airport is the second busiest airport in the world in terms of passenger footfall, behind Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta Airport.

To accommodate growing traffic volumes, in 2008 the airport added the enormous Terminal 3, which coincided with the Olympic Games.

Upon it construction, it became the second largest airport terminal in the world and the sixth largest building in the world by area.

Iain comments further: “The push for British companies to make headway in China is being ramped up due to the country’s huge economic clout. We’re proud to already be established in China as a go to British firm with a reputation for excellence.”

As well as being involved in projects worldwide, Cotswold also regularly create bespoke solutions for fabricators across the UK, including some of the industry’s most well-known names such as Polyframe and Safestyle; Metal Technology and Kawneer.
